The Chereponi District has successfully inaugurated its District Youth Committee on Wednesday, 6th May 2026, at the Presby Church Hall. The event was part of a regional initiative by the North East Regional Coordinating Council (NERCC) in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) under the 8th Ghana Country Programme (CP8).

The inauguration brought together key stakeholders including representatives from health, education, social welfare, sports, community development, traditional authorities, persons with disabilities and youth federations. The diverse composition reflects the mandate of the National Youth Authority Act, 2016 (Act 939), which ensures inclusive participation in youth governance and development.
Speaking at the ceremony, officials emphasized the importance of the committee in amplifying youth voices, promoting empowerment and addressing local challenges. The committee is expected to serve as a platform for young people to contribute meaningfully to decision-making processes and to strengthen collaboration between the district assembly and the youth.
Participants expressed optimism that the committee will help bridge gaps in youth inclusion, create opportunities for leadership development and foster community resilience. The inauguration was marked by strong attendance, enthusiasm and a shared commitment to advancing youth-centered development in Chereponi.
The newly inaugurated committee will begin its work immediately, with activities scheduled to run from May to September 2026.
