Social commentator Bongo Ideas has stirred public discussion with a Facebook post highlighting the stark inequality between Ghana’s south and north.
He wrote: “I’ve lived all my life in Accra & after experiencing the north, all I can say is Ghana is a VERY POOR place. There’s poverty written all over the people: their food, clothes & overall wellbeing.
The disparity between East Legon and Chereponi is sheer wickedness! Unacceptable! People in the north deserve better. This can’t be the life of a human being in 2026.”
The post has drawn attention to the poverty gap, with many agreeing that the contrast between affluent areas like East Legon and rural districts such as Chereponi is alarming. It has reignited calls for equitable development and stronger government action to uplift communities in northern Ghana.
